What is the role of SKP?

SKP is the competent authority established under the Consumer Credit Act 2025 to regulate conventional and Shariah-compliant credit businesses, as well as credit service businesses in Malaysia. Its functions are as follows:

  • To advise the Finance Minister on all matters relating to consumer credit.
  • To advise the Government on national policies relating to consumer credit.
  • To ensure proper conduct among credit providers and credit service providers.
  • To empower and promote the sustainable development of the consumer credit industry.
  • To perform any other functions arising from, or incidental to, SKP’s responsibilities under the Consumer Credit Act 2025.
